De publieke ruimte is onlosmakelijk met de stad verbonden; het is het substraat van de stad, het openbare netwerk dat individuele (private) gebouwen met elkaar verbindt. Maar de openbare ruimte is ook de voedingsbodem voor bottom-up initiatieven, het werkveld van burgers, kunstenaars en ontwerpers die met (tijdelijke) interventies de publieke ruimte activeren en transformeren.
We Love Public Space brengt een eerbetoon aan de openbare ruimte en aan alle stadsmakers. Tijdens de Rotterdam Architectuur Maand organiseren we een aantal ‘Walkshops’ waarbij de Rotterdamse openbare ruimte op een bijzondere manier, Coronaproof, ervaren wordt.
Een Walkshop is een (thematische) wandeling waarbij de publieke ruimte vanuit een ander perspectief dan gebruikelijk verkend wordt. Rotterdamse professionals afkomstig uit verschillende disciplines verleiden de participantentot actieve deelname, variërend van een situationistische ‘route dérive’ tot een Wind Walk.

Public space is inseparable intertwined with the city; it is the urban substrate, the public fabric that connects individual (private) buildings. Furthermore it is the breeding ground for bottom-up initiatives, the workfield of citizens, artists and designers who activate and transform public space with (temporary) interventions.
We Love Public Space pays tribute to public space and to citymakers who are (professionally) involved with it. During the Rotterdam Architecture Month we organise a series of ‘Walkshops’, exploring the public spaces of Rotterdam in a special way.
A Walkshop is a (thematic) walk during which public space is experienced from a different perspective than usual. Rotterdam-based professionals from various disciplines seduce the participants to participate actively in a situationist ‘route dérive’ or a ‘Wind Walk’.
